# Fix: dashboard keeps warning that DNS settings need updating

If your dashboard shows a "DNS settings need updating" (or similar "analytics needs reconfiguring") banner even though your domain is already connected and working, it's an informational alert, not an active error — you can dismiss it.

## Steps

1. Confirm your domain is actually working: check **Store Settings → Domains** shows it as **Connected**, and visit your store to make sure it loads correctly.
2. If everything is working, click **Dismiss** on the warning banner on your dashboard home page.
3. If the domain is genuinely not connected, follow [How to connect a custom domain to your Dropify store](https://help.dropify.shop/en/domains_dns/connect-custom-domain/) instead of dismissing the warning.

## Common problems

- Warning reappears after dismissing → this can happen if the underlying connection check hasn't fully caught up with a recent domain change; re-check the domain's status under Store Settings → Domains, and dismiss again once confirmed working.
- New merchant unsure what the "DNS settings" and "Custom events update required" warnings mean → the DNS one refers to connecting a custom domain (see [How to connect a custom domain to your Dropify store](https://help.dropify.shop/en/domains_dns/connect-custom-domain/)); if you haven't added a custom domain yet, this is expected until you do so or you can dismiss it if using the free subdomain intentionally.
